How much is a cab from the airport to the Historic District? Any other means of transportation?
My husband and I will be visiting Charleston from Tuesday, April 15 until Saturday, April 19. We are staying at the Best Western King Charles. We had assumed that we would rent a car from the airport when we arrived. Now we are not so sure that we really need to have one for our entire stay. We may just rent a car for a day if we decide to tour the beaches or go to a plantation. If the cost of transportation to and from the airport plus one day of a car rental comes close to the cost of renting the car for our entire stay then there is no need to do without one.
Transportation from the airport to the Historic District
Looks like it will run you between $20-30 each way. Here%26#39;s the link to the airport%26#39;s transportation webpage:

Transportation from the airport to the Historic District
Thanks for the link. I see that there is a shuttle for 12.00/person that makes several stops downtown. Do you know how I can find out more about that-what stops it makes and the hours?
I%26#39;m so glad this question has come up as it has forced me to do a little transportation research.
I believe the ';shuttle'; that is referenced on the airport%26#39;s site is actual the city%26#39;s bus system. Here%26#39;s the link to CARTA: http://www.ridecarta.com/
Route 11 looks like the bus you would take; it appears to go through North CHS, parts of which are not too good.
Hopefully some of the year round locals will pop in and give their opinions.
