I know that there is Newton Farms in Freshfields Village but I am guessing it is probably pricey. Should we stock up on groceries before hitting the island? Appreciate any suggestions!
Grocery Store in Kiawah
Newton Farms is a very complete supermarket. It is ';high end';, but probably no more expensive than Whole Foods, or whatever high end supermarket you have at home. One thing I have noticed is that they don%26#39;t carry a lot of bulk items, or large-size containers ... possibly because so many people shopping there are only in the area for a short period.
If you want to buy some groceries before you arrive on the island, there is a big Piggly Wiggly in the shopping center at the intersection of Maybank Highway with Main (Bohicket) Road. You could stop there for bulk items before continuing out to Kiawah.
I would suggest that you purchase items that do not require refrigeration at Piggly Wiggly, but plan to buy the rest at Newton Farms. The Piggly Wiggly is approximately a 20 minute drive to the entrance of Kiawah. Then, you will have to check in, etc. If you have any delays, the food might spoil.

Thank you so much!!!That is perfect and thanks for the tip about picking up refrigerated items at Newton Farms. We leave Saturday and I see quite a bit of rain in the forecast!!!
Oh, dear. The weather has been really odd this year. The harsh winter even ruined some of my plants. I will keep my fingers crossed that the sun will come out for you!
vacationlover,
If you%26#39;re driving in from Charlotte and you%26#39;re a Walmart or Publix customer, there are new stores located in West Ashley.
I%26#39;ll look up the specific directions I created for my mom;-) and post them.
Drats, of course I can%26#39;t find them on my computer when I need them.
Here are the addresses:
Publix, West Ashley Place,3642 Savannah Hwy,Johns Island; 843-573-8734
Walmart SuperCenter, 3951 W Ashley Circle, Charleston (West); 843-763-5554
Perhaps you can map out from your home.
