Best place for friedchiken or ribs??

Hi I will be visiting Charleston for the first time the second week in April. Can anyone recommend a restaurant to eat some really good fried chicken or ribs??? Not necessarily at the same restaurant, as we will be there for five days.

Best place for friedchiken or ribs??

Fried chicken is available most everywhere. My favorite fried chicken (since I am from Kentucky, I am particular) is at Rosebank Farms Cafe. Rosebank is at Bohicket Marina, near Kiawah and Seabrook, so perhaps too far for your purposes.

One new downtown restaurant, Virginia%26#39;s on King, does fried chicken as well as most other favorites you would associate with down-home southern cooking. Lowcountry cuisine in general is a variation on the ';down-home'; theme with more emphasis on the abundant local seafood.

Typical SC barbecue is pulled pork, with less emphasis on ribs than in other parts of the country. Sticky Fingers, a local chain founded by transplants from Memphis who missed their Memphis barbecue, concentrates on ribs in various preparations.

One extremely popular and convenient place for barbecue is Jim and Nick%26#39;s on King St. You will likely have to wait if you come at a busy time, but the tea is great and the pork is great. I haven%26#39;t had the fried chicken but I%26#39;m sure it%26#39;s good.

We liked Bessinger%26#39;s on Savannah Hwy. They have really good fried chicken and Bq also, but I am not sure about ribs the was none on the bar the day we were there only pulled pork bq. They may have ribs on the bar another day or on the menue. Really good food at a reasonable price all you can eat style bar.

Bessinger%26#39;s has ribs on the menu in their sandwich shop area. Sometimes ribs appear on the buffet, as well, but not always. The pulled pork is excellent. I have never tried the ribs, but others in my family think they are great.

I second Virginia%26#39;s on King for fried chicken...just like my Grandmother used to make. Hit or miss for good fried chicken is Jestine%26#39;s...but again it is hit or miss as sometimes they overfry it.

Surprisingly finding good ribs in this town can be challenging in my opinion. Sticky Fingers and Jim n%26#39; Nicks are good but both are chains...SF is 5 different states and Jim n%26#39; Nicks is in 6. If I had my pick it would be Jim n%26#39; Nicks hands down...plus they have really good cheese biscuits :)

Happy Travels!

In my opinion, the very best ribs in Charleston can be found in West Ashley at Fiery Ron%26#39;s Home Team BBQ. I%26#39;ve eaten there often, and theirs is the best BBQ overall, but especially the ribs.

Very easy to get to from downtown, too.

meet me at fiery ron%26#39;s soon as my feets can carry me there/ thanks for the suggestion!

Floski is right, as always! Their ribs are great! Their BBQ is very good, too! There is more parking in the back.

I didn%26#39;t care for Sticky Fingers at all. My wife and I got sick after eating there. It was very pricey, but then again what isn%26#39;t in the area.

We had some good ribs at a place called T-Bonz. That was a fun place.
