About 82 queen. Kid-Friendly?

I am planning a one day trip to Charleston from myrtle beach at the end of August. I have done fairly well so far on my itinerary with lots of reading, research and your tripadvisor posts and reviews. You guys who are regulars on the posts, do such a wonderful job with your advice. I swear, I%26#39;m hooked. There will be other questions, but for now I%26#39;m working on my three restaurants for the day! We are a party of 4, including two kids, 8%26amp;9 years old. We%26#39;re driving from Myrtle Beach straight into downtown Charleston around 7:30am-8am. Will pick from Diana%26#39;s, Joseph%26#39;s or Hominy grill. My question is, I need a place that will welcome my two kids for lunch in the downtown area. I%26#39;ve got my eyes on 82 Queen because of the beautiful courtyard and it%26#39;s connection to Barbados (I%26#39;m originally from Barbados) but I get the impression that it is not kid -friendly. Could anyone help me on this. If it turns out that they aren%26#39;t kid-friendly, could anyone recommend a place with a lovely outdoor garden or courtyard, that would welcome kids? And did I mention that they are trained and well-behaved? Seriously.

I cannot imagine that any restaurant in Charleston wouldn%26#39;t welcome 2 well behaved kids, so I wouldn%26#39;t worry.

However, if someone knows of such a restaurant, let me know! LOL!

82 Queen should be fine for your family - especially for lunch in the courtyard! Well behaved children will consider it a special grown up treat.

There is no special ';kids menu';, but the lunch menu offers plenty of variety for light eaters.

Thanks you guys. I%26#39;ve got my mind set on 82 Queen for lunch, so I sure will be trying. I will probably call ahead the day before we arrive. I know there are plenty others to choose from at least for lunch, so I will have a back-up plan.

Charleston crab house on James island or Fleet landing will be my choices for dinner depending on where we end up. I don%26#39;t feel that we%26#39;ll have a problem with those.

Still I would welcome any other suggestions about restaurants for dinner the Folly beach area. We%26#39;ll try to squeeze Folly beach in. It seems like a fun place.

I have brought my kids to 82 Queen for lunch and it was fine. The courtyard has a boisterous, European-clanking plates style instead of whisper-quiet so it was good for kids. I have also seen some unruly kids there at dinner and no one was happy about that!

Have fun!

Thanks, Nctripper, I am having a lot of fun weeding through all the restaurants. I am not a history buff per se but I am absolutely fascinated by the history of Charleston and it%26#39;s varied and cultural influences. 82 Queen seems to have an atmosphere that is quite unique. If the kids don%26#39;t enjoy it, I will!!
