We are staying at the Shem Creek Inn next week for two nights. First, we were thinking of eating at Shem Creek Bar and Grill and/or Vickery%26#39;s. Are either of these within walking distance of Shem Creek Inn? Is there a sidewalk? Does the Shem Creek area have a ';river walk';? We will have a car, but would rather walk if close enough.
Second, if we wanted to walk on the Ravenel Bridge, is there parking near the end of it in Mt. Pleasant? I assume it is too far to walk from Shem Creek Inn.
Third, public restrooms can be found throughout the Historic Area, correct?
Last minute questions
First, where you park for the Inn is suitable for parking for Vickery%26#39;s - just walk across the gravel lot. Shem Creek Bar and Grill is on the other side of the road but not far. Cross only at the light, though - this is a busy place with people on a mission to get to their favorite watering holes FAST - especially on the weekend! :)
You COULD walk to the Bridge, but the bridge itself is 2 1/2 miles across. My advice is to drive the 1+ mile to Patriot%26#39;s Point, park there and walk up the ramp to the bridge. If it%26#39;s too windy, I%26#39;d recommend getting your exercise some other way. The bridges in windy weather can be treacherous.
Public restrooms - not so much, but there are hotels and restaurants that you can use. Oh, I think there is a public rest room inside Charleston Place (between the staircase and Meeting Street).
