We are a group of 18 year old girls traveling to Myrtle Beach for senior trip. And, we found two hotels that look decent, and seem to be student oriented. The first is the sandcastle at the pavillion. We have friends who stayed there last year for their trip, and said it wasn%26#39;t too nice, but it was a lot of fun for people our age. But, that was a group of guys and girls. Girls are more picky!
The second is the Ocean Reef Resort. This looks very nice, and about the same price. But, seems to be further away from the happenings, and might have more families.
Any recommendations?
THANKS! :)
Ocean Reef Resort vs. Sandcastle at the Pavillion
As far as I knew you had to be 21 to stay at Ocean Reef.
Ocean Reef Resort vs. Sandcastle at the Pavillion
The Ocean Reef is the nicer of the two (imo) but I%26#39;m really surprised that they are accepting 18 year olds.
Well, I emailed them, because like you I thought we for sure would have to be older. But, they said as long as everyone is eighteen, we can rent the room.
Funny, I just called them and they said you have to be at least 21. You might want to double check before you end up coming all the way down here and not having a room
Gah, they emailed me and said 18.
Well, if I was choosing between the two, I would think Ocean Reef for the cleanliness %26amp; nicer facilities. But, Sandcastle will probably be much closer to the action. Although, if they are taking reservations from 18 year olds now, I%26#39;m sure people will be signing up fast!
Not sure which one would have more families.
My son stayed at Sandcastle years ago for Senior Week. Not the best place he said...but it was ok for the week...lots of kids his age there too.
Atlantica also rents to Seniors. My other son stayed at Super 8 around the 1100 block of South Ocean Blvd. Again, decent place, rents to 18 yr olds.
You have to keep in mind....if they rent to 18 yr olds...it is not going to be a great, super clean, quiet hotel.
oh....and I meant to add......the son that stayed at the Super 8..away from the ';action';..he was so glad they stayed there....they were able to SLEEP! No noise all night like at the other hotels and no one pounding on their door all hours of the night.
Keep that in mind too..;)
Yeah, I have a feeling that the ocean reef is much nicer. We will be driving, so if we want to cruise into town during the night it will not be a hassle. Surprisingly, for the 9 of us girls, the ocean reef is about 40 less for each person!
Thanks for all the tips! :o)
Also, if anyone has stayed there, I know you guys said it is a little away from the action, but..is there much to do around the hotel?
The Marriott at Grande Dunes is by far the best hotel in Myrtle Beach, especially for singles.
