I%26#39;m looking for a great seafood restaurant anywhere from Calabash to Murrells Inlet. We are staying at Kingston Plantation. I know there are a lot of post on this---but things and restaurants change over the years. We aren%26#39;t going until July---but I can taste it now and my family LOVES seafood---mainly shrimp, crab legs, oysters, crab cakes. Any posts would be appreciated!!
Best seafood
Spuds in Murrells Inlet is FANTASTIC! It%26#39;s got fantastic views and wonderful seafood. Sometimes there is even a live band outside on the covered porch. I definitely recommend it!
Best seafood
Even though its a chain we have never had anything but very good meals at Landrys. The locals swear by Mrs Fish but its a paper plate type of operation just to let you know.
TONYMIK I haven%26#39;t eaten at the Landry%26#39;s in MB but I ate at the one in New Orleans last month and it was one of the best meals I%26#39;ve ever eaten, period.
You know, I%26#39;ve eaten at Benjamin%26#39;s for decades and always enjoy it. If I%26#39;m looking for quaint...I ride up to Calabash or Murrell%26#39;s Inlet...but I don;t think I%26#39;ve really gotten any better food there. I also have consistently enjoyed the Sea Captain%26#39;s House for something a little more upscale.
Landry%26#39;s and Bonefish Grill are both awesome.
Lots of good places for seafood. I mainly stick to the south end restaurants to avoid all the traffic problems because I live at the south end. In Garden City you have Sara J%26#39;s and Gulfstream Cafe. In MI you have Nance%26#39;s, Cedar Hill Landing, Dockside, Drunken Jack%26#39;s. They are all very good.
None of these are buffet either.
If you want a buffet you have Crabby Mikes in Surfside, Benjamins Calabash in NMB. Both of these you can get coupons in monter coupon book.
Personally I avoid chain restaurants that serve seafood. I want the local seafood places. Especially since certain restaurants own 90% of the oyster beds.
Ask at the Kingston and see what they recommend.
For buffet I reccomend Crabby Mikes
Crabcatchers in Little River...I enjoy their oysters and blue crabs (when in season). Stay away from their fried seafood, however. Best fish sandwich (blackened) is Duffy%26#39;s in Cherry Grove.
For buffet style, I would have to agree that Crabby Mikes is my favorite, Original Benjamins is good sometimes, every time we have visited it may be fantastic one trip and horrible the next. Crabby Mikes has been more consistent. As for not buffet style, we enjoy Nances Creekfront in Murrell%26#39;s Inlet, and Drunken Jacks is very good although a little more expensive than nance%26#39;s.
Duffy Street is cool, good for Beer %26amp; oysters/peel %26amp; eat shrimp, but for a meal it leaves alot to be desired. Calabash has by far the best seafood, and lots of choices. The fancier, larger ones there are not the best. Seafood Hut and the one in the middle on the water (out of the 3 directly on the water) are the best. Crab Catchers in Little River is good if you sit outside, on the water as well, but don%26#39;t go in a hurry. It%26#39;s a afternoon on the deck , have a drink and watch the boats place, good shrimp burgers. Don%26#39;t care for any of the buffets. Overpriced %26amp; overcoooked. Biminis near Kingston is a good locals seafood place too.
