Beware! Elliott Beach Rentals - Baywatch III Unit # 738

A rental agency to avoid if planning a trip to North Myrtle Beach!

After ten years of renting hotel rooms in Myrtle Beach, my wife and I decided to rent a condo at Baywatch III through Elliiott Beach Rentals. We have never previously encountered difficulty or dishonesty in countless rentals while in North Myrtle Beach. Having paid in advance for the week, we were excited to be beachfront at a newer property in a clean, modern building. Baywatch III #738 was promised to be a jewel! After driving 1000 miles and arriving at 10:00 pm, our holiday plans were quickly dashed when we discovered a room that had not been cleaned in a significant period of time. The floors were so filthy. A bag of linens for the bed were strewn over the filthy floor. Unbelieveably, unacceptable for a developed country. My wife cried! Considering the late hour and little recourse, we went to Wal-Mart to purchase cleaning supplies. Over two hours, we made the place as clean as possible. Then we decided to take a shower. Surprise! There was no hot water. We called Elliott the following morning. We actually gave them the chance to make things right! Over three days, three service men attended. Nothing was done! Still no hot water. By day 4, the owner of the condo called and acknowledged the condo was filthy weeks earlier when she attended, but that it was supposed to be cleaned by Elliott. Seemed we aere caught between an owner and a rental agent! Elliott stonewalled us and promised to get back to us each day as we called. The clerk coined our situation as the holiday from hell. By day 6 we got hot water. By day 7 of our 7 day vacation, we finally reached the General Manager who denied even knowing of the situatiion. He offered a discount on future rentals. Needless to say, I informed him I would never rent from Elliott again. We were offered token compensation. We came to learn through other snowbirds that this is common for Elliott Rentals and that ours was one of many accounts of filthy rental units which are never cleaned. It seems to be a scam preying on vulnerable travellers. pane. Attachments:

That is surprising....call Rick Elliott at 843-280-5704; he%26#39;s the owner. His father Dick is a SC State Senator and he started the company in 1959. They are one of the best companies in NMB. Tell him who you talked to during your ordeal.

I%26#39;ve used Elliot on many trips without a problem. Few times there was a problem it was always corrected in a very short time.

Which Elliot office did you deal with? Maybe three in NMB. We always rented through the main office on Sea Mountain Highway. One time through office in Ocean Drive.

Offered a discount on future rentals? Token compensation? You don%26#39;t need the guys Senator brother, you need the State Attorney General. I for one, would never rent from this place. They had more than ample opportunity to remedy the situation. Bottom line, they didn%26#39;t and that speaks volumes.

Sorry you had such a terrible experience. Thanks for sharing your story.

So sorry to hear about your experience.

I used VRBO and had a great experience dealing with the owner of the Condo direct. As a matter of fact, we stayed at Bay Watch, and even now I exchange emails with the owner as we have become friends.

All I can add is, for those reading this is to take a camera just in case, and take many photos, document who you talk to, and at what time. Also make it plain to who you talk to what you expect from them to remedy the situation.

Regarding an earlier post, you should contact the owner, then if you are not satisfied, I would write the Attorney General and the local chamber office.

Good luck, and I am so sorry you had such a bad experience. This is surely not what would represent most Condo rentals.

To be honest , I%26#39;m not all that surprised . If you spend some reading thru the NMB hotel/condo reviews , you will find an increase in the number of people who%26#39;ve walked away less than satisfied with the cleanliness of Elliot Realty properties . But I think that is really the only complaint about them to be fair . I seem to think that anyone who is upset with Elliot isn%26#39;t complaining about amenities , price or location , etc. - it only appears to be the CLEAN factor - and that is huge with everyone . Especially for those who don%26#39;t buy the departure maid service yet have provide their own arrival maid service . Just one person%26#39;s opinion , I%26#39;ve used them before , probably won%26#39;t use them again .

Everyone that rents pays for made service...where it%26#39;s added on the the price or part of the price or they do it them self....they all get maid service. Now one may get missed by accident or may not be cleaned thoroughly or properly but I seriously doubt it is supposed to be skipped.

I just happen to have an Elliott book and I don%26#39;t like the policy of letting the last guest clean the property for them self. Supposedly it is inspected after that guest leaves and if not clean; that person%26#39;s credit card is charged $150 to have it cleaned by an Elliott maid service. Departure maid service can be requested for $70 for a 1-2 bedroom unit up to $185 for a 9-10 bedroom unit.

That private owner is trusting Elliott Realty to do a good job for them; I would not be surprised if they are not looking a way out? Of course Elliott probably has several rentals set up for that condo this summer which they would lose at this point...late December would be the perfect time to quit a realty company and what they supposedly provide. For Bay Watch alone...Elliott Realty provides rental services for ';72'; condos and 738 being a 1 bedroom 1 bath should be easy to take care of. Having something wrong is not the problem but not taking care of it is. That one rental had several strikes against it. The renter and the condo owner should be HOT!

Elliott probably eats up 20 -30% of the rental fee before add-ons such as taxes, etc. Making money hand over fist and not doing their job for the owner. I%26#39;d guess 95% of condos rented though rental companies have private owners...maybe even more?

You should have contacted the general manager on day 2. Some worker/workers are probably in hot water over this? The 3 days they sent someone to work on the hot water; they obviously were sending the wrong person. Hot water heaters are a simple fix, even if they need replacing. Plumbing ain%26#39;t rocket science.

Update to our original message:

Since writing our account, we received a personal telephone call from the owner of Elliott Realty. Mr Rick Elliott was deeply concerned about this matter.

Mr. Elliott apologized and sought the details as to how things went wrong and how he could take the appropriate steps to make sure his personnel react quickly and appropriately to similar concerns in the future.

Within minutes, I realized that Mr. Elliott was genuinely concerned and that his primary goal was to ensure this did not happen to future clients dealing with his family business. Mr. Elliott was proud of his long time family reputation and assured me that his clients were very important to him. I believe him!

I came away from our conversation believing Mr. Elliott will use our experience to constructively improve the reporting procedure and reinforce his expectations to customer service personnel of Elliott Realty.

I am very happy with the response of Mr. Elliott and my faith has been restored by this act of genuine southern hospitality. I was touched by his act of sincerity and old fashioned service. I feel that I even learned something from Mr. Elliott%26#39;s sincerity.

Considering the response of Mr. Elliott, I encourage all readers to view our experience positively.

We look forward to resuming our annual vacation in Myrtle Beach and yes鈥? we will be dealing with Elliott Realty

Thats great to hear. Although I%26#39;ve never used Elliott Realty, I%26#39;ve known several personally that have with no issues. I%26#39;ve had more than several on here recommend Elliott and given the daily recommendations I%26#39;d have no problems using them down the road.

It%26#39;s unfortunate that you had a bad experience, but it%26#39;s bound to happen in any industry. I%26#39;m glad you%26#39;ve changed your mind even if it took a call from the owner.

I knew someone dropped the ball; Elliott does too good a job with too many people.
