I would like to relocate to the Greenville area. Have never been there. My son lives in Charleston. I live in a small town (20,000 residents) in WI. It%26#39;s a beautiful town which draws lots of tourists to it downtown businesses. The town is on the Register of Historic Places. It%26#39;s about 20 miles from a large city. I would like to find a town that would be very similar. I also would be interested in a condo property that is not in a large complex, rather maybe a 2 family dwelling. I plan on visitng Greenville but have to get some recommendations before I come so that I can do my homework. Thanks for your help. Cheri
Relocation
I recommend checking out www.greenvilleonline.com , which is the Greenville metro area newspaper. I think it is a great resource for those looking at the area. If you do visit I would check out downtown Greenville. Where you want to live depends on if you want a more rural or urban setting.
I would not consider Greenville a tourist destination, well not yet. It is also MUCH bigger than 20,000. Last time I heard, just the city was around 60,000.
Another website for general information http://www.greatergreenville.com/
There are plenty of smaller communities in the greater Greenville area.
Simpsonville or Greer might be more up your alley. Be warned that both areas are growing and urban sprawl has started to be a problem.

There are ogles of housing choices. Are you looking to buy or rent?
I just looked at this place the other day http://www.cottonmillplace.com . I dont think this is what you are looking for but thought it was cute.
Relocation
Is there any reason why you wouldn%26#39;t want to move to Charleston? It%26#39;s 3 1/2 hours from Greenville so you could get a lot closer to your son if you wanted to. You might want to check the lowcountry as well - Hilton Head and surrounding areas are nice and only an hour or so from Charleston. Tack on an extra 1/2 hour and Savannah, Georgia is open to you.
