Ocean Reef Resort: Parking & Restaurants in the Area - ?

We booked the Ocean Reef Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC.

First time to this area. Will be driving about 12 hours to get there.

Great reviews on here and we got a rate we can afford comfortably.

Thank you for any help you can give. I will read each response thoroughly and really appreciate your time in responding.

********* Q U E S T I O N S ********

1. Are there enough spots in the lot across from the hotel?

2. I heard police give tickets in that lot. Is this true? (read here)

3. What restaurants can you walk to from this hotel?

4. Are the walls in the rooms ';thin'; as some reviewers said?

Is it safe , structurally sound??

5. Describe the area at night. Safe?

6. Describe the area during the day: Is it bumper to bumper traffic over there?

7. Any suggestions for Antique Malls? I LOVE to shop for consigned items and vintage collectibles. (nothing high-end).

We%26#39;ve stayed there %26amp; liked it very much. I know there are lots of complaints about parking on this forum, but we%26#39;ve alway found a spot, no matter what resort we stay at. Might not be the closest to the door, but doesn%26#39;t bother us to walk a bit.

The area near Ocean Reef is very safe. Just use the same caution you would in any vacation area. As far as traffic, depends on when you are going. MB gets very busy at times. But you are far enough north that you are away from the bumper-to-bumper cruising that congests central Ocean Drive.

There is a River City Cafe %26amp; California Pizza nearby. Can%26#39;t remember what else, but I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll hear from others.

Don%26#39;t remember the wall being any more thin than any other hotel. The building is solid %26amp; seems secure.

Not much of a shopper on vacation so can%26#39;t help you there.

Have a great vacation.

Ocean Reef Resort: Parking %26amp; Restaurants in the Area - ?

There is an Outback SteakHouse .38 miles from Ocean Reef and a Carrabbas Italian grill .52 miles from the hotel. At least they were there in 2005. I hope the Carrabbas is still open because we go there every time we are in Myrtle Beach. Also A TGIF is .60 miles from Ocean Reef. All within easy walking distance. Though I think North Kings Highway where the restaurants are on can be busy. If my memory serves me right there are numerous other restaurants close by within walking or driving distance. As for the walls, we have never had any problems with noise. Parking, was sometimes an issue, since we have a handicapped son. There wasn%26#39;t that many handicapped spaces, but all that meant was I would leave the family off in front of the hotel and go park and then walk to the hotel across the street. Back home, I have to park my truck in a lot and walk 20 minutes to work every day, so across the street is a piece of cake. Since we were there in 2005 I heard they put in a parking deck.

Carabba%26#39;s was still there in September this year.

Thank you so much for your responses. I had a great time reading them. I am happy to hear all that info!!! Sounds like fun!

Keep more info coming! :) Thanks!

Martin%26#39;s at The Long Bay resort next door has a great breakfast buffet.
