My boyfriend and I are looking at a cruise that goes from Charleston and on the way back we were going to stay a few nights.
Is the Holiday Inn a good hotel for location, since we wont have a car?
The cruise is in December- what is the weather like?
Would anyone suggest NOT going to Charleston in the winter months?
I know it is a highly desired location in the summer but it is the only time we can go on vacation and I%26#39;m hoping Charleston is as great in the winter as it seems to be in the summer.
I%26#39;ve heard of the market as well as the christmas light display- any other christmas type attractions?
Thanks a lot!!:)
Charleston for the first time in December
The Holiday Inn is a couple blocks further away than most historic district lodgings, but most people don%26#39;t seem to mind the extra walk. As far as the weather in December, it should be quite nice and mild; certainly not too cold at all for being outdoors. Summer is really the worst time to be in Charleston, as the weather then is extremely hot and humid.

Christmastime is a great time to be in Charleston actually. Sure, the temps can go from 60 to 30 and 60 to 30 in 4 days but overall it%26#39;s quite nice. The city looks great in holiday decor and it is worth it to look into some of the historic homes that get all decked out at Christmastime.
We went on a ';Progressive Dinner'; with the whole family this year...had appetizers and champagne at one place, went by horse and buggy to have dinner at a historic restaurant, left there by horse and buggy to go to another historic home where they had a dessert buffet. Fabulous time - gorgeous places, great food. Can only do it at Christmastime (though I suppose anytime you can arrange something like that for yourself).
One of the country%26#39;s largest ';Festival of Lights'; is right here in Charleston County - the kind you drive through. Beautiful!
Htere is a Holiday Boat Festival - boats are decorated for Christmas and ';parade%26#39; in the harbor.
There is an annual tree lighting ceremony.
The plantations all have special Christmas events.
You%26#39;re making me wish it was Christmas and I haven%26#39;t even had time to enjoy summer at the beach yet! :)
