What are the condo names next to Mar Vista?

I think Mar Vista Grande will be all booked by the time my sister gets to book hers (within the next 2 weeks) and my family is staying at Mar Vista. I was wondering what condos are next door so my sister can come next door instead of driving to see us.

Next door on either side or even the next 2 on each side would be greatly appreciated!!!

The Windemere may be next door. I like the website northmyrtlebeach.com to check the rental market.

Wyndam Ocean Boulevard....she needs to look at Timeshare weeks for rent.

Wyndham

isn%26#39;t the VERANDAS in there somewhere as well ?

Verandas is the one right next to Wyndham. If just for a bedroom the one bedrooms would be OK.

Odd set up. Walk from outside into bedroom. Then through very tiny ';kitchen'; into decent sized living room.

Thanks everyone for the quick reviews and replies. Still wondering if there is anything on the other side. We stayed at the Barefoot North Tower resort last year for the pool and the intercoastal waterway lights.

This year we opted for oceanfront AT THE Mar Vista and my sister (family of 4) decided to join us after we booked. So yeah we are looking for a condo close. Thank you.

Going south from the Mar Vista you%26#39;ll come to Xanadu III, North Shore Villa and the Wellington. Going north is Tidemaster, The Verandas then Ocean Bay Club. Hope that helps. Try condo-world.com or condolux.net they both include cleaning and linens in their rates and that usually makes them cheaper than a lot of other rental companies. You also can check availability by building name at both sites.

Just had a thought - I don%26#39;t know what size unit you have already booked, but you might check with the rental company and see if you can get a bigger unit without a penalty. We had to do that one time and the company was happy to move us to a bigger (read MORE EXPENSIVE) unit. If you%26#39;re going during high season and they%26#39;re likely to be able to rent the unit you originally booked, they may be willing to do that. One bigger unit is ALWAYS a lot cheaper than two seperate units. Last fall it ended up that we were in NMB at the same time as our daughter - however, as she was on her HONEYMOON we opted for seperate locations! ;-)

Check out the Mapquest Satellite view....fairly recent. The 3 buildings (4th across the street) that are in the same complex north of Mar Vista are Wyndham Ocean Boulevard. She may find one here?

Thanks again, that is perfect! I am renting from an owner and it is completely paid for already sooo, and at prime summer, a bigger place for 12 won%26#39;t be easy to find. Family of 6 + grandparents + sister%26#39;s family of 4. So, thank you all sooo much!

Roxanne Towers Sand Renourishment May 18-22???

Does anyone know if the sand renourishment project will be underway near the Roxanne Towers around May 18-22? Roxanne Towers is located around 15 Avenune North. This is our first trip to Myrtle Beach and since my wife is in a wheelchair, it%26#39;s difficult for us to move up and down the beach. Thanks!

Roxanne Towers Sand Renourishment May 18-22???

I am not sure about the renourishment situation for that area, but i do know, that back in 1994 (i realize that this is a long time ago), I went to Myrtle with a friend, and her family, and her mom was in a wheelchair. We rented a beach wheelchair from the lifeguard, so we could take walks with her on the beach. Just thought i would let you know that this was available at one time. It is basically just a regular wheelchair, with 4 wide rubber tires of the same size on it. It has to be pushed, she won%26#39;t be able to travel with it by herself.

Hope this helps,

Terry

In all honesty ..I do not believe any one know where the project will be at any given time thorughout the summer!

Compass Cove Buildings

Does anyone know which is the better building to stay at in the Compass Cove resort? There is the Schooner, the Pinnacle and the Mariner (condos). Is any one better than the other?

Thanks!

Compass Cove Buildings

They are all different

-Pinnacle is the tall one building resort that has a garage attached to the front of the building. They have recently upgraded things in there about 1 year ago. They have pools and stores and cafe thing in there. The rooms are effeciency type rooms. Beds with kitchenettes, and a table and chair type room. Balconies, etc.

-The Schooner Building is the smaller ';motel'; type building that is only about 5 floors. It sits directly in front of a pool but it%26#39;s still oceanfront. They have recently been upgraded as well. Large studio type rooms with beds and balconies, etc.

The Mariner Building sits atop of the Schooner building and that%26#39;s the newest of the buildings and it has been upgraded recently. They are the larger of the rooms. Garage at the building.

You would pick it based on how much room you need. If you are coming with kids and you would like separate living quarters, then go with the Mariner building. If you just need a basic room with a kitchenette, then go with the Pinnacle. The SChooner will be the cheapest as you may not have a good view of the ocean depending on the floor or side view of the room.

Otherwise you can use all pools and other things in all buildings. They are all right there next to each other.

Compass Cove Buildings

We stayed in the Mariner bldg this past summer. If you choose it, be sure to ask for a room higher up. We had a corner condo (it was beautiful, no complaints) on the 6th floor (which is really like the first floor since the prkg garage is floor 1-5) and it really wasn%26#39;t oceanfront. More like oceanview with a great view of the roof of the Schooner roof. It was nice because we didn%26#39;t have to deal with the elevators but we lost out on the view. The higher up the better.

Which area of Hilton Head is the nicest?

Will be visting South Carolina within the next few weeks. Would like to take a ride around Hilton Head to check it out. Which parts of the island are considered to be the prettiest and nicest?

Which area of Hilton Head is the nicest?

I suggest you read my ';Sticky'; Plantations at the top of the forum.

When Charles Fraser developed ';SeaPines';, He had put into place a set of covenants that blended the environment with his development. The other developments and then the town adopted these same covenants. The result is that the island is a unique place.

Each development has it%26#39;s own character, and you will learn more by reading that ';Sticky';.

Which area of Hilton Head is the nicest?

You won%26#39;t be able to ';check out'; a large part of the island- that is, plantations which are behind security gates. Only visitors and residents are allowed into Palmetto Dunes, Hilton Head Plantation, Port Royal Plantation, and some of the other residential areas.

You will be able ride around Forest Beach/Coligny, Sea Pines Plantation (after paying $5 for a day pass), Shelter Cove, and a few other parts of island.

What you won%26#39;t see is a lot of beach directly - most is ';hidden'; by tones of trees and the neighborhoods.

Actually getting into Palmetto Dunes and Hilton Head Plantation are not too hard.

Get a pass at the south gate of PD by going to the Hilton. That will take you into the Ocean Area and the ocean front condo complexes. You can stop at the Hilton and get a beverage at their tiki hut, and see what the ocean is like,

In Hilton Head Plantation ask to go to the Old Fort Pub. Next to that restaurant is the ruins of Fort Mitchell, a civil war era Fort. You should also stop at the Whooping Crane conservatory, a forest preserve on the property.

Neither of these two plantations charge a fee, unlike SeaPines.

If you play golf, playing either the Barony or Robbers Row course will allow you to see much of Port Royal. The Robbers Row course runs through the ruins of Fort Walker, another civil war installation.

Don%26#39;t know where in SC you%26#39;ll be based, and though you can ride around on Hilton Head, it%26#39;s more of a destination than a scenic drive. For scenic driving, I%26#39;d recommend Rte. 17 to Beaufort, stopping at some of the small islands--Lady%26#39;s Is.-- St. Helena. Beaufort itself is a great place. Then, too, Savannah is 45 minutes(in the other direction) from HHI, and that%26#39;s a great place to go, too

Good South beach Motel for kids?

I have read about the renourishment of the beach, and from what I have read they are starting at the south end and moving north up the beach. We are going to take our vacation in July probably the last week of July. We have 2 young girls 4 and 1 1/2 yrs old. I am going to spring for oceanfront rooms this year, and if the hotel has a good waterpark for the kids. I am willing to pay $200 a night for a nice clean hotel this year. We will be staying the whole week and this is my only vacation this year it has to count BIG!!!

Thanks So Much!!!

Good South beach Motel for kids?

Compass Cove is showing great rates for that week.

All of their buildings (3) have availability.

I have stayed her before in the Pinnacle building. Check out their website and the pictures from this site. Note that they have done some major renovations to the whole property so it should be even better. Wonderful pools and the location is ok.

Good South beach Motel for kids?

Coral Beach is popular with families.

You people are great!!

Check into the Myrtle Beach Resort. Rent a condo directly from an owner. Check out vacation rentals dot com or vrbo dot com. The Myrtle Beach Resort is very family oriented, however, it still offers a lot for the adults (e.g., beach bar). My family and my brother%26#39;s family are renting there in August. We have 5 kids between us, raning in age from 2 to 14. It is in the south of MB and the renourishment has already passed there.

  • How busy a road is N. Forest Beach Rd.?

We are renting a vacation home late April off N. Forest Beach Rd. approx. 1mi from Coligny Shopping Plaza. We will have our 9mo. old infant with us. We are planning on renting bikes (including a tyke trailer) while in HH. How busy a road is N. Forest Beach Rd.? Is there a bike path that runs along side it? We%26#39;re trying to make the determination if riding bikes to Coligny Shopping Plaza from the house is a safe option to driving. Thanks :)

How busy a road is N. Forest Beach Rd.?

There is a bike path along North Forest Beach that I have riden on over the years. It should be a lovely bike ride to Coligny.

    I hope this helps.

How busy a road is N. Forest Beach Rd.?

We always stay in this area and there is a wonderful bike path- you will never be in the road. There is minimal traffic and it is a VERY easy bike ride to coligny. The roads go in alphabetical order so if you are staying on Avocet- you are closest to Coligny- likewise- Quail is further down NFB.

Enjoy- we started going to HHi when our 18 yr old was 9 months and she and her brother(20) have grown up loving it- like a second home- wish we had bought down there 18 years ago!!:)

clcflyn: I agree with all the posters above. We rented a house on Osprey and the bike ride was about 5 minutes. If you are on the ocean side of NFB you will have to cross the road to get to the bike path but that will not be a problem. Everyone rides down there, so people are accustomed to looking out for and yielding to cyclists and their families in tow (not like most places where you take your life in your hands on a bike.) Bike paths are everywhere, and you can actually bike all the way to Sea Pines from NFB. Riding on the beach is wonderful too, you can ride for miles. You will have lots of fun and make any memories with your bambino.

The streets really are alphabetical along NFB Road. You should ';google Earth'; your address and see exactly where you are!

    Whatever happened to ...

The Saracen? I believe that was the name - there was a restaurant downstairs and a funky bar upstairs. It was on East Bay closer to Broad than Market. It was in a beautiful, dark brown building with ';moorish'; windows - the building is still there but it looks unused. Anyone know what, if anything, it%26#39;s being used for? I think the building used to be a church??? Any info would be appreciated!

    Whatever happened to ...

Are you talking about Charlie%26#39;s Little Bar? If so, it closed a few years back unfortunately :( To my knowledge the building is sitting empty.

    Whatever happened to ...

Charlies Little Bar closed??? NO! That used to be a favorite watering hole of mine when I was at College of Charleston.

I do remember Saracen...it did indeed close many years back but Charlies definitely outlasted it!

I miss ';Calhouns Bar';...same location as present day Trio. They used to have Drinking with Lincoln on wednesday nights, all you could drink beer for $5. They closed in 1996 :(
